I've been playing around with adding more and more audio into my edits lately. I usually use audio from the vows in the Wedding Day Montage at the end of my wedding videos, but I've been playing with adding it into the getting ready & first sight portions of the video too.
Andy + Melissa are such a fun couple and have excellent taste in music. In fact, their music choices inspired a completely different edit than I normally do. That's a tip for those of you looking to have wedding videography - your music really changes the feel of your video. If you look back a post or two in my blog to Jeff & Brooke's you can see how a slower song feels compared to this one. Different portions of the video need faster or slower music though too, in my opinion.
So - here's just the very first few minutes of Andy & Melissa's wedding video. It was all the shots we did of them getting ready and preparing to see each other for the first time that day.
The photography was done by the FABULOUS Jessica Roark at Epaga Foto - www.epagafoto.com - I may post more on this wedding later, but here's a glimpse -

This is one of my favorite images from this year. I get a lot of compliments on it, so I wanted to take a second and tell the story behind it.
Travis and Lisa decided to see each other before their ceremony to get some relaxed portraits done in the Crossroads District in downtown Kansas City. They met upstairs in the Arts Incubator where their ceremony took place in front of a large window where they had shared a moment on their first date.
For a "first sight" moment I like to give the couple time to see each other and shoot from a distance. This moment happened after they had seen each other and was not posed, it just happened, which is how I always shoot. I don't do a lot of posing people or telling them what to do unless they really need direction. I find that my clients are comfortable enough in front of me to just be themselves as a couple and the pictures just happen naturally.

Collier turned 1 just a couple weeks ago. After shooting his mom's baby shower a year before for my good friend Beth, it only seemed right that I tag along for the party. It was such a blast and capturing moments with the family was priceless.
I don't consider myself a children's portrait photographer, there's plenty of folks in town that do that incredibly well, but when it comes to friends, and real moments with them, sign me up!
Here's Collier with his great grandmother -

This video is from last fall but since I've got a new blog that allows me to put them up, you all will be seeing some favorites from the past and some from this season as well.
This is one of the most gorgeous weddings I shot last year - Brooke & Jeff are such an awesome couple and so much fun to film all day. We worked along side RPM Entertainment who did a fantastic job on their photography. I really love their work & they were so much fun to hang out with that day.
It was freezing all day, but we still got some great footage with the ceremony at Redemptorist and the reception at Union Station.

Leah & Pete were destined to be together. So much so that Leah's friend told Pete one day a year before they ever met, "Do you like Puerto Rican girls? You'll meet my friend, fall in love and marry her someday." And so it is.
This July I have the pleasure of capturing their wedding day, both with photography & videography. In the meantime, here are a few shots from the awesome engagement session we had the other night:
